Cowboy

Man it's been forever since i've posted here...but I am working on new ideas and working on getting them done. Currently they are building up in my head, I'm going to be working on some this weekend.

Here is a piece that i did just to make sure that I still knew how to "paint". I have relearned a lot and have a lot of ideas on how to get a better image in the end.

it's been a while

Well it's been over a year since my last post. A lot has happened in that time. I am now employed "full-time" for American Greetings as a graphic artist. I have moved into my own apartment, no more roommates. I have shaved my beard...but growing it back for a photo shoot at work...but it will be coming off right after that. Not much more else...other that work usually keeps me busy.

Oh about this piece... it's not done yet...and it is in oils Man I miss painting in oil, i gotta do more of it and plan on doing so. It is of a painting of my best friends son Jake. He is wearing a human cannon ball outfit, from a trip to a carnival. I'll post more when i get more done...hopefully tomorrow....but for now, enjoy.

Greg

Here is a portrait I did of a friend up here in Ohio, his name be Greg. Greg is in at least one band I know of, Victory Over Death, and I yet have to go to one of their shows (SOON guys I will be in the crowd I PROMISE). But a little bit about this technique is I started off with a sketch printout and used Matte Medium to paste it down to some illustration board. From there I put down some Clear Acrylic Gesso to give it some tooth and started to paint in Acrylic. After the acrylic was done I layed down a THIN wash of oil and lifted out the highlights with a handy dandy kneeded eraser then after all that is dry I take some colored pencils and add extra highlights and shadows just to give it that added ooomphhh. Keep in mind that this was a quickie and done in 2 hours or so. Actually this technique looks AMAZING when taking your time. Next one I post like this I promise that I'll take more time in doing one.
